Sunday morning
Sunday morning, sitting watching a TV program on how to shift to the country, looking out the door seeing cows, flowering kowhais, the 'woosh' of tuis swooping in and out of the trees, my Burmese cats sunning themselves on the deck, all the while with the lap top balanced on my knee, thinking 'well, I've nearly got it right!!!'
Haven't quite got it figured how to work completely from this bit of paradise but at least I can be here part time.............could often do with longer though, but then don't we always want MORE.
This is Tirohanga, our four and a half acres of paradise, 'down the coast' in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. A small bach, lots of trees, a few cows (the neighbours), beach across the road, the starting blocks of a small home orchard and garden. Not sure where this will go, may be another building so that other people can come and enjoy this space. The TV program is talking about B&Bs, not sure if that concept works to well in New Zealand, but maybe 'Respite Care' with a natural health orientation would be nice.....one day.
My 92 year old aunt loved coming here, it's all flat, easy 'shuffling' and she was able to make it to the beach for the first time in 20 years. Wonderful! She also saw a new calf born, that was a first for me as well. Great stuff.
But at present it's a place to 'chill', relax, think, fish, write, have the grand children to stay, introduce both kids and cats to COWS, cow muck, possums, fishing, sharks, planting stuff and watching it grow.
My grandson is quite fascinated by a miniature tree growing out of 'his' peach stone.
One grand-daughter decided to become 'vegetarian' when she discovered that fish had to be killed before putting them on the BBQ, the other took great pleasure in learning how to kill and gut the fish!!
Mmmmm, the facts of life, not a bad idea to become vegetarian, but although many people think I am, I've never quite managed it!
Cats have got used to seeing cows, horses, the occasional rabbit, but haven't quite figured possums yet, luckily there's not too many of them and they hide from hawks, just as well they might be mistaken as being rabbits.
Not sure where this writing is going now, the mind got side tracked! Never mind, that's what this place is all about.
